WE ARE BACK!!! It is so hard to contain my excitement while I write this. I cannot count how many people have approached me to ask if Northern Choral Society would be presenting a concert this year. Our NCS family, including our audience, is ready to ring in Advent this year with our comforting, meaningful concert. We need your voice and your help to make this happen! I am so thankful for our Board of Directors for staying on and making sure that NCS remains a part of our community. Carl and Janna Bingle are back again as our amazing accompanists and the marvelous Marietta Kitto will be directing the Children’s Choir!

The theme for our program this year is “Voices of Christmas” and is centered around the holy family and other people that were at the birth of Jesus or showed up shortly after. I have found a few pieces that need to be purchased and we are in need of donors to do so. If you are interested, let me know as soon as possible.

1. RECRUIT  PLEASE ask your friends to try singing with NCS. Many people who are perfectly capable just need a little encouragement and self confidence. Make them feel welcome and comfortable because we have strong singers that will be returning to help our new singers feel confident. Know any kids? Ask them to sing with Marietta! Maybe their parents will join us too! This year the singer fee is a free-will donation.

2. FUNDRAISE  We are blessed to be able to run a fundraising benefit through the Clipper Inn in Clayton on October 19. It is very important that we all try our best to sell those tickets! They will not be disappointed in this amazing meal at a price that cannot be beat. Also, everyone is welcome to obtain sponsorships through local businesses. They will love seeing their names splashed in our program. If you have other ideas to help fund our organization, please reach out to me or any member of the Board.

3. PLAN  Rehearsals start September 25 at 2:00pm at First Presbyterian Church. Our Children’s Choir will be directed by the marvelous Marietta Kitto and will also start rehearsals on September 25 from2:30-3:30pm. Singers can be in grades 2-8. We need faithful attendance from everyone involved. I understand that some things are out of our control, but please plan ahead now to put NCS rehearsal as a priority in your calendar. (See the schedule on the back of this letter.) If you have any questions or issues about this, please contact me and we will figure it out. It is important that we have your voice.

4. HEAL  We have been through A LOT the past 2 years. We are so blessed to be able to sing together again. Many of us have lost loved ones. I know of one NCS singer that we lost to COVID during the pandemic. Loretta was a shining light to everyone she looked at. She had the most beautiful heart and I know she will be smiling on us as we sing each and every week. As we sing together, our hearts will be changing tempo together. THIS IS AMAZING and just one way we can heal our souls by being blessed with the ability to unite our voices.

Joyfully and thankfully,Sara Gleason, Director of Northern Choral Society315-771-3556
